The Madsen boys

Silas is now in Spanish pre-school and enjoying learning lots of songs and games with the other 3-year-olds there. Timothy is learning 6 or 8 new words every week and loves to play with trains, "Buzz" and "Woody".

Thank you for your prayers for both of us! We need Daddy and Mommy to teach us lots of things and most importantly about God's love for us. He has a very special plan for us and we want to know all about it so we can serve Him and care for others every day!

Why did we choose the name "Silas"? Acts 16:25-26 (NASB) reads, "But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened." This is an incredible example of God's power not only to free captives (those chained physically or spiritually) but of God's attention and immediate answer to the praying and singing of those who trust Him to act (in this case, Paul and Silas). Our prayer is that God will use Silas's life to sing His praise and to speak truth into others lives, allowing God to "shake the foundations", breaking the hold of sin, and turning them to salvation in Jesus Christ. "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12 NKJV)

What does Timothy mean? Timothy means "to honor God". In Paul's letter to Timothy (II Tim. 2:1-2) he says, "You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." Our prayer is that the heritage that we have in Jesus through our parents will be passed on not only to our little boys, but be multiplied to many others through the work of God in them.
